More speakers announced for The Pharmacy Careers Conference in Manchester on 24th September
We are delighted to announce confirmation of more outstanding speakers at The Pharmacy Careers Conference. They will be sharing, step by step, their career journeys and how they got to where they are. The aim of the event will be to educate, empower and inspire young pharmacy professionals to branch out into pharmacy careers that suit their skills and interests, thus enabling them to have an enjoyable, varied and rewarding career. All delegates will be given multiple opportunities to network with speakers and potential employers, as well as learn valuable skills via workshops during the day.
Mohammed Hussain FRPharmS MAPharmT
Senior Clinical Lead for Digital Medicines at NHS Digital
Mohammed works at a senior level in a portfolio career spanning national regulation, education, national health care technology and service redesign. Mohammed is a Council Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council, the pharmacy regulator and is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society an award recognising distinction for services to the profession of Pharmacy.
Mohammed is the Senior Clinical Lead for Digital Medicines at NHS Digital. He has been working in national clinical informatics roles since 2009 delivering Electronic Prescription Service and Summary Care Records in England. He has also worked as a Programme Head leading a number of teams in health informatics delivery. Mohammed was one of the co-founders of #Pharmacy24, an international twitter event to promote pharmacy that had 20million impressions in a single day on 13th April 2017.
Nadia Bukhari BPharm, FHEA, FRPharmS, PG Dip Pharm Prac, PG Dip Teaching & Learning in Higher Ed.
Senior teaching Fellow in Pharmacy Practice, Pre-Registration Co-ordinator, Alumni Co-ordinator , UCL School of Pharmacy, London.
Nadia graduated from the School of Pharmacy, University of London and started her professional career as a community pharmacist.
Nadia then moved on to work for Bart’s and the London NHS Trust, London as a clinical pharmacist in surgery. It was at this time she began to have an interest in teaching, as part of her role involved the responsibility of being a teacher practitioner for the School of Pharmacy, University of London.
She then commenced working for the School of Pharmacy, the University of London as the pre-registration co-ordinator and the academic facilitator. This position involved teaching therapeutics to Master of Pharmacy students and assisting the director of undergraduate studies. Whilst teaching undergraduate students, Nadia completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice and her Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching in Higher Education and is now a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She then took on the role of the Master of Pharmacy Programme Manager, which involved the management of the undergraduate degree as well as being the pre-registration coordinator for the university.
Since the merger with UCL, she has now taken on the role as a Senior Teaching Fellow in pharmacy practice which involved her leading on the final year practice module. She has also recently taken on the exciting role of alumni co-ordinator for the school.
Nadia has many responsibilities within her Professional body, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. She is the chairwoman for the Pre Registration conferences & was the Foundation programme development lead pharmacist on secondment for 6 months and is now an elected board member of the English Pharmacy Board.
Nadia has an avid interest in pharmacy research. Her area of research is Pharmacy & Leadership and she is now in her 5th year of her PhD. She is also a renowned author for pharmacy. Her interest in writing emerged in her first year of working in academia. 9 years later, Nadia has authored eight titles with the Pharmaceutical Press. Nadia is the Founder for the Registrations Assessment Questions series and the Pharmacy Registration Assessment Questions series at the Pharmaceutical Press, London.
In 2015, Nadia was awarded the status of Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for her excellence and contributions towards the profession. She is the youngest female and youngest Asian to be awarded this accolade.
Hadar Zaman MRPharmS MFRPSII FHEA IPresc
Chief Mental Health Pharmacist at Alternative Futures Group, Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice at University of Bradford, CQC Inspector and Specialist Advisor (Mental Health and Adult Social Care)
Hadar clinically specialises in mental health in particular forensic psychiatry and is currently Chief Pharmacist at the largest private providers of mental health services in the North West. He combines his clinical role with his academic position at the University of Bradford. Hadar is an early career researcher and has published broadly in the area of health services research and has established successful collaborations with various institutes. Hadar, has a passion for learning and teaching and is involved in pre registration education and training for ProPharmace and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Hayley Gorton MPharm
RPS Lead Greater Manchester, Community Pharmacist, PhD student, Associate Researcher
Hayley graduated from Cardiff University in 2012 with MPharm 1stClass honours degree and completed her pre-registration training year at Boots in Wolverhampton. On qualification in 2013, she worked as a relief pharmacist until taking up her PhD studentship at the University of Manchester in April 2014. Last month, Hayley was awarded her PhD entitled “Risks of self-harm, suicide and other unnatural death in people with epilepsy”, subject to minor corrections. This work was predominantly pharmacoepidemiology, using two large electronic data sets. Throughout her time as a PhD student, Hayley taught on all four-year groups of the MPharm course, in particular on modules relating to community pharmacy, and introduced a lecture on suicide research to the curriculum. She was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) for her teaching in higher education and has continued these teaching commitments within her Research Associate role that commenced in April 2017. Hayley has always been an active member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) and was student/pre-reg lead for RPS Black Country until her move to Manchester where she joined RPS GM steering committee and is now lead. This Autumn, she will also join the RPS pre-registration training team.
